We started off the day similarly to the day before, meaning late. Since Hussein was coming today, I decided to leave most of the sightseeing stuff for later, and instead spend the day walking around Seminyak.

The streets here are busy, crowded, and hot. Some areas have sidewalks, no wider than two people walking abreast, but still better than nothing. Other areas have none at all. We walked around our areas, pausing to look into shops, selling a variety of things. There are the usual t-shirt stores, where L was particularly interested in pink sunglasses, and then there’s other stores that sell wooden objects, from furniture to utensils to decorative items, while others sell macrame. These I’m particularly interested in considering I want to redecorate back home.

We stop by a little place for lunch, just a tiny place with three tables serving mostly Indonesian food. I had fried rice, with egg on the side. L ate the egg, I ate the rice. I quite like Indonesian food but I feel like there isn’t much of a variety, which is disappointing. Their portions are also quite small, most of the time leaving quite unfulfilled. I’m mostly surprised at how expensive food is, I expected it to much, much cheaper. I’m guessing elsewhere in Indonesia, everything is much cheaper, but here in Bali, it’s tourist prices all the way.

On the way back, we stopped for ice cream, which L thoroughly enjoyed and then we went back to the hotel to rest. I had to carry L half the way back, poor thing had gotten so tired from the heat. an hour or so later, we headed out to the beach near the hotel.

This beach seemed to be a little less of a local beach with a lot more tourists roaming around. There were cafe lining the beach on the sand and L wanted to chill out on one of the beanbags. We stayed there till it got dark and tiny little bats started flying overhead. They were so small that I had initially mistaken them for little birds.

We waited for Hussein to arrive and then went off to dinner a restaurant near by. Hussein was likewise disappointed with the portions, so much so, that he had to order an extra dish. Even then, I don’t think he was entirely full.
