FONTAINEBLEAU

Fontainebleau is perhaps not on the top of any tourist list, but it definitely a lovely city to just relax and sample french food. Close enough to Paris for the off day trip, it has non of the crowds. It's slow pace feels like just the way France should be.

BEST EATS...

There are plenty of options to choose from, whether it's a small boulangerie offering piping hot bread or restaurants with fantastic steak tartar.
Our favourite two restaurants were Le Franklin and Bistrot des Amis. Both offered fantastic steaks, with a great menu selection of fine french dining. My personal favourite was Le Franklin and would definitely recommend it.

BEST SLEEP

During our last visit we stayed at an AirBnB, since H no longer had his flat. It was a great experience, clean apartment, great location, and somehow remained cool despite the heat. Couldn't recommend it enough. Here's the link

SIGHTS & ACTIVITIES

There's not a lot to do in Fontainebleau and I can't imagine it being a major tourist destination. The main attraction is the Chateau, which really is quite lovely, with a garden and a lake outside. Other than that, you can enjoy a stroll through this small French town and sample the food, which is quite yummy.
